NFL: Division Championship Predictions

[01.16.07]
Division Championships?! I take it to the limit in this week! MY CREDIT CARD LIMIT! Oh yeah!

I don’t know how I pulled a 3 and 1 week out of my ass, but I do have to say thanks to Marty Schottenheimer for some of the worst coaching ever in the history of professional sports. Granted, it was inevitable that the Pats were going to win, but I couldn’t have imagined the Chargers losing in the manner they did. The Colts/Raven field goal festival was somewhat entertaining, as were the Saints/Eagles and the Seahawks/Bears. All in all, I’d have to say it was one of the most entertaining playoff rounds in a while, and this week has the potential to be even better…

Saints (+2) vs. Bears

I’m one of the biggest sports conspiracy theorists out there, and I am going to predict that the Saints win because of the whole “Hurricane Katrina OMG Saints are playing well so that must mean New Orleans is actually recovering!” story. (It actually hasn’t. I was in New Orleans not too long ago and it’s still a wreck. Granted, I couldn’t tell the difference between pre- and post-Katrina New Orleans. Oh I kid, I kid.) Oh yeah, there’s also Saint’s steady offense and decent defense. Plus Rex Grossman sucks. I’m putting the over/under on number of times he’s picked off at 2.5.

Patriots (+3) vs. Colts

After a playoff season full of shitty lines, we get decent ones this week. The Patriots are hot hot hot and the Colts… well… not so much. Their D has stepped up as of late, but if Peyton continues to play like he has then the Colts have no chance.

Also Peyton will never win a Superbowl. If he does make it, I put the over/under on him shitting his pants at 1. No wait, I’ll straight up moneyline that shit. I don’t even know what moneylining that shit means, but I’d definitely do it.

Last Week: 3 - 1

Overall: 4 - 4
