Claymore seems promising. Even though I’ve read some bad reviews, I thought the first episode was pretty entertaining.

Since Death Note is quickly coming to an end (and hasn’t been that good for the dozen episodes…), I needed a new series to watch. I thought Claymore would be interesting because I’ve always enjoyed the medieval/fantasy setting and because I saw a girl with a big sword. I just can’t resist women with big swords, and no, that isn’t a euphemism for trannys.

The setting of Claymore’s story is a fictional world with medieval technology. Politically, it appears to consist of a large number of scattered, apparently independent, towns. In this world, humans coexist with creatures called Yoma sentient monsters that feed on human innards. The Yoma, being shape-changers, can take on human form and live in disguise amongst humans. By consuming the humans’ brains, Yoma can also absorb their memories, allowing them to disguise themselves as specific people without alerting any of their close friends or family.

A nameless and highly secretive organization has created an order of superhuman warriors to protect humans from the Yoma. These warriors have come to be popularly known as Claymores, after the immense claymores they wield. Villages being attacked by Yoma hire Claymores to kill the Yoma for a large fee.

At any rate, I just watched the first episode and was mildly impressed. I was told that the first few “scenes” were pretty bad, so I didn’t get my expectations up. The animation was average, but the action was pretty good.

The episode centers around Claire and Raki. Raki’s village has been attacked by a Yoma and his family wiped out. Claire arrives and kills the Yoma. Blah blah blah, more stuff happens, and by the end of the episode Raki becomes Claire’s sidekick/cook. You could see it coming from a mile away, but the episode was still decent.

Now that that’s over with, some random thoughts:

+ Spyjuice posted the trailer for Sexy Beach 3. I don’t know whether to be disgusted… or aroused.

+ I like this website.

+ Kobe still wants to be traded. I honestly don’t see it happening… but if it does, I bet Arenas goes to L.A.

+ I’ve decided that I am going to buy a PS3 as soon as Tekken 6 is released. Everyone seems to be all about the Virtua Fighter series, but I prefer Tekken just because I am not good at fighting games and there’s no way I could remember even 10% of Akira’s movelist.

+ Going to see the Red Sox play on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I know that everyone’s a Boston fan these days, but I swear I am not one of those fairweather fans. Honest. Schilling’s pitching Monday. Big fan of the guy as a pitcher, but not so much as a blogger.
