Random Charity At Work Post

[05.23.07]
[ : : ]
After being at work all day, there’s nothing I enjoy doing more at home than complaining on my blog about it.

There’s something about big corporate law firms that make us really charitable. I swear, at any given moment, there’s 4 or 5 different charity drives/events/fundraisers/blah blahs going on at the place I work. Now don’t get me wrong, I am all about charity, but when I get bothered 3 times in one day by uppity secretaries wanting to raise money for some diseased cancerous baby in Africa it makes me want to kill myself. (Actually I just gave $10 last week to some local suicide prevention hotline. It’d be nice to get something useful out of it.)

And it’s not like you can refuse to give money, because whomever started the charity drive is sure to keep tabs on who isn’t giving. There are rumors of associates who have been denied partnership status simply because they refused to buy girl scout cookies from the tax partner’s daughter.

I think the reason why there’s so many charities going at once is that the majority of the work we do is centered around helping make rich people richer and defending soulless corporations. We’re basically just a bunch of assholes who will try to screw a guy who got cancer from asbestos from working for 30 years in a run down building from getting a reasonable settlement or figuring out how a company can divert its assets so that it won’t have to pay its tax burden. Also because the majority of people in “biglaw” are greedy prick gunners who only really care about $$$ and need to do something to feel good about themselves. Besides, we’re just going to write off all of our donations on our taxes anyway, so it’s not like we’re not getting anything in return.

Ugh.

At any rate, some random thoughts:

+ I can’t stop thinking about Peer Pressure. I really can’t.

+ The new Batman movie is going to be awesome:

I mean, how freaky is that shit? I did my part by helping unlock 2 pixels.

+ NBA Draft order is set. Portland at 1 and Seattle at 2. I think the best part about the draft was reading Simmon’s posts. I don’t care much for the NBA these days, but perhaps I’ll do a draft prediction post or something.

+ Castlevania: Rondo of Blood remake for the PSP. I’m a huge Castlevania fan and this one was one of my favorites. I am going to have to steal my roommate’s PSP when this comes out.

+ Saw this on Fark, but who knew that Hasselhoff’s daughter’s were hot jailbait honeys? Honestly, could we expect any less from Michael Knight?

16 will get you 20…
