Baby Vox: Devotion Photo Album

Voices of Expression ladies in scantily clad outfits in hot locales? Sign me up!!! |
The other day I was cleaning out one of my old file folders when I came across Baby Vox’s Devotion photoalbum. I thought to myself, “Man, I can’t believe I obsessed over these girls and made entire web pages dedicated to them. I was such a loser.” Then I browsed the album and remembered why…
For those of you not in the know, Baby Vox was a super successful Korean pop music act with five boner inducing ladies. The “VOX” portion of their name stands for “voices of expression”, which makes a lot of sense compared to say Fin.K.L., which stood for “fine killing liberty.” I think that there were a couple of line up changes in the beginning, but at the height of their popularlity, Baby Vox was comprised of Kim EZ, Kan Mi Youn, Lee Heejin, Sim Eunjin and Yoon Eunhye. (I hope I typed those out right…) Like most Kpop acts, I was never a fan of their music, but boy did I enjoy watching their videos. Let’s take a closer look at the fab 5 shall we…

Kim EZ was probably most known for being the only Kpop star with cleavage. Well, that was back in the day. These days a boob job is almost as mandatory as dance and voice lessons for anyone aspiring to make it in the cutthroat world of Korean pop music. EZ was the sultry slutty girl who did most of the rapping bits that annoyed me so much. According to Baby Vox USA, she’s an actress of some sort now. I can totally see that because out of all of the members she had the most “presence.”
By the way, Baby Vox USA also talks about a new version of Baby Vox called “Baby VOX Re.v.” What the fuck is up with that?! Granted, I am not really into it anymore, but that sounds like a horrible idea.

Yoon Eunhye was the cute one. You gotta love that “fish eye” surgery that these girls get don’t you? She didn’t play as prominent a role as the other members, but she’s still cool in my book.

Man, I had the hardest time telling them apart, but this is Lee Heejin… uh… the other “cute” one. I also think she was kidnapped or something. I really don’t have much to say about her.

Sim Eunjin was the “leader” of the group, although I don’t know how much leading she actually did. In my opinion, she was the most talented of the members and I am really surprised her solo stuff hasn’t done well. She was obviously the most manly and was there mostly to capture the lesbian and bisexual market. It’s sad that she was considered “butch” in the crazy upside down world of Asian pop music, but yup, she was. Honest. She was the first of the fab 5 to leave, signaling the end of the golden age of Baby Vox.

Last, but not least is Kan Mi Youn. Aside from looking like she hasn’t eaten anything in years, Kan Mi Youn was the… uh… other other cute one. I never thought about it, but aside from Kim EZ and Sim Eunjin, the other girls were pretty much replaceable, but that’s a topic for another day. She actually did sing a lot, but it was nothing special. According to wikipedia:
On September 15, 2006, she released a solo album entitled Refreshing, choosing a ballad for the lead single; this was done in order to show a different musical side of Kan, as most of her group’s songs were dance/pop songs. The single, ėë ėŽė (A Woman from the Past), has been moderately successful. As of November 2006, she is still promoting this single. However, the album has not charted since September, when it placed 20th and sold 8,367 copies.
Poor poor Kan Mi Youn. Only 8,367 albums?! I’m sure Kevin Federline sold more than that. Oh well, I’m sure she’ll get them next time.
But yeah, as I was saying, the photo album is of the 5 ladies in Thailand (Or at least I think so. By the way, I’ve used the phrase “I think so” at least 432545 times in this post, so chances are everything I wrote was a complete lie.) I thought the photography was decent, and I wished I had a higher res version. At any rate, feel free to download a copy and give it a looksie.
